Yes, we finally picked up our 80 pounds (yes, I said 80) of fresh-from-the-farm chicken breasts from Zaycon Foods on Monday. Oh Lordly, there were breasts everywhere, and they were ENORMOUS! As you can see in the photo of Kati (my au pair) holding a pair of rather large breasts (yes, I'm trying to be childish), they came in pairs (as most breasts often do...sorry, can't help myself).
Luckily for me, I had planned ahead and purchased a Food Saver so that I could extend the life of my breasts from months to years, and so the process began of separating the breasts into family-sized portions and vacuum sealing them in preparation for the deep freeze (which, by the way, I could probably have done by simply putting them on my back deck because of the annoyingly cold weather).
I have yet to taste the chicken, but at $1.69 per pound, they are indeed a bargain. Watch for a taste update soon, but until then, we will enjoy shopping in our freezer, and making the most of our... breasts... (ha... had to get it one one last time).
