Yes, we picked up our 40 pounds of lean (93/7) ground beef yesterday morning at a church parking lot in Lakeville, MN. It was such a seamless process, the line moved very quickly, and yes, even people who drive 7 Series BMW's participate in buying cheap meat (as you can clearly see from my photo)! Once we got our four ten pound tubes home, that's when the annoying work began as I tried to mark out ten equally-sized one-pound slices to cut up and put into individual freezer quart bags.
The smell of raw burger brought me right back to working in my parents' grocery store meat room... ah, good times. When I got home, I saw an email from Zaycon telling me (just as they promised on their website) that since I had pre-paid for 40 pounds of beef but actually received only 39.6 pounds that we were credited $1.60 to our account. I really appreciate when a company stands behind what it promises it will do and that they didn't just blow smoke up my you-know-where.
Regardless of the annoyance on the back end of the dividing, cutting, and bagging, the bottom drawer of our freezer is now filled with meat - enough to make several meat helmets (Austin Powers reference)! Taco night, meatball night, spaghetti with meat night, here we come... again, and again, and again....
