Insider Secrets from the Fabulous Fisherwoman

I'm sorry, but it doesn't matter if you're an open bale or spincast reel user, it's not the equipment that makes the difference when it comes to fishing... it's how you use it!  Recently, I have been fishing at a local pier on my lunch break, and on several occasions, I have outfished the men that were there.

Standing in disbelief as a well-put-together woman sporting makeup, jewelry, fashionable clothes, and designer sunglasses made them all look like novices, all of the men were perplexed at my instant success.  In and out in less than an hour, and I caught the most and largest fish in the shortest amount of time.  I'm always willing to help a fellow fisherperson out so I shared with them my fishing secrets...

Fishing Secrets from the Fabulous Fisherwoman:
  • Wear jewelry and make an effort - it has ALWAYS worked for me in the past.  If you put forth extra effort, the fish will as well.
  • Use PINK baits with jewelry attached (aka, spinners) and squid-like tails (sold separately - mix and match!).  I find that the fish are caught off guard by lures of the pink persuasion, and they have been catching fish for me for years... bass, walleye, northern, muskie, crappie, sunnies.  I prefer the "Thumper Jig" in pink from Northland Tackle.
  • Metal leaders, while they give you a certain peace-of-mind about keeping the "big one" on the line, often change the action of your bait.  Sadly, I always seem to snag the bigger fish on jigs that I'm not using a leader on... makes the fight more interesting and fair.
  • If you're new to the terrain, go weedless.  I have a slew of weedless baits that can go anywhere... keeps you from looking like an ass when you go somewhere new.

I know it's hard to take fishing advice from a girl who looks like she'd be better suited to give advice at the makeup counter, but you bet your butts that those boys I outfished will be trying some of my techniques... so you should too!

Remember... It's not the size of the tacklebox, it's how you use it!
