Yes, I finally have my body back - thank the LORD! My first drink post-baby - a Moscato d'Asti - my favorite. I had been looking forward to that drink with more anticipation than my first drink when I turned 21 (yes, fans, I was that nerd who actually waited until I turned 21 to have a drink).
What other vices have I indulged in off of my post-pregnancy bucket list? Well, I have eaten raw cookie dough (with a side of disapproving glare from my mother-in-law), I have been able to sleep on my back without feeling like I'm being crushed, I have licked a spoonful of honey, I have eaten cold lunchmeat, and I have taken a few hot baths (the kind of hot that would have overcooked that little baby).
It got ugly when we went to the liquor store, and I kept throwing bottles into the cart. Mark asked me if I was making up for the year I didn't drink - all in one trip to the store. Maaayyybeeee... I'm just excited to be able to consume whatever I want.
And look who stopped by: the Elephant Man! Just kidding... those are my disgustingly huge, swollen feet and ankles (super kankles) from all of the fluid they pumped into me when I had my epidural and from my 1 Liter + of blood loss. Sexy. (No 6"+ heels for a while.... this photo was taken last week and the swelling has since dissipated.)
The home care nurse that stopped by didn't even think I had swelling (thanks a lot - she thought I always looked this bad?!) She said that the woman she'd seen before me that day had the worst swelling she'd ever seen: swelling so bad that she barely had toes visible underneath the fluid bags that her feet had become. Eew.
I am so glad to have that baby on the outside than the inside. Everyone who told me, "It's easier when they're on the inside" was wrong. He is so easy on the outside, feeding every 4 hours and then being pretty much a model baby (even easier than my first baby that was easy)... so much easier than taking up precious space in my not-so-tall torso. Plus, he's just so much cuter on the outside!
Now, it's on to the weight loss challenge... stay tuned for that freak show!
